Four talented alien musicians are abducted by a music producer who disguises them as humans and reprograms them to forget their true identities and play mindless corporate pop under the name The Crescendolls. When a soccer match is shown on the monitor; The teams of Japan and France are playing. Two collaborators, Daft Punk and Leiji Matsumoto, are French and Japanese. This movie is magical, the soundtrack is amazing, you feel like you’re soaring through the air like you’re “aerodynamic”. The story may seem pretty simple, it’s basically a “digital love” story; a story where the hero has to be “harder, better, faster, stronger” to save the woman of his dreams and his band (“Crescendolls”) from an evil music producer. Leiji Matsumoto’s animation is so beautiful; for example, the “night vision”; the earthly city (probably inspired by Tokyo) is breathtaking. But the real “superheroes” of this movie are Daft Punk. These guys understood that good music can lead to a “high life”, they can move us, they can say “something about us”. Let them take you on this cosmic journey, just like a "traveler" shuttle or not, you will find it to be "veridis quo". This is a "shortcut" (only 68 minutes, the length of the "Discovery" album), but at the end, when you find yourself "face to face" you can only feel yourself wanting a little more, as if it could never be "too long".
